Couple Gems From One of My Favorite New Websites: BrainPickings.org

One of my favorite new sites, Brain Pickings, has compiled a best of 2012 list of various book genres. The following link takes you to her collection of the best illustrated children's books and picture books of 2012. There are many, many gems to choose from, and her reviews - with high quality pictures accompanying the text - are engagingly written.

Of the ten books she highlights, these two are my favorites:

Big Questions From Little People: Questions asked by children from ages four through twelve are answered by several prominent scientists. Questions such as "How do we fall in love?" to "Are we all related?" and "Why We Can't Tickle Ourselves."

Little Bird: Sounds like a really neat book that can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike, and puts our humanity and relationship with other living beings into perspective.
